Sandler Vs Sandler

Thursday, December 19, 2013

For the younger generation it must be very difficult to believe that Adam Sandler once made good movies. Of course it's a question of taste but there's no denying the brilliance of Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, The trailer for Sandler's latest film Blender shows him collaborating with the sweetheart Drew Barrymore for the third time. While checking out the trailer we wondered if this might be the Mickey Rourke comeback we so badly want to see. Let's have a look at the turn of the Sandler's career and hope there will be a turn back soon.

 The Peak

THE WEDDING SINGER

Sandler sends us back to the 80s and transforms himself to a depressed wedding singer after being dumped. Of course the lovely but engaged Drew Barrymoore is the only remedy. It's got music, heart, romance and a surprising amount of humour for a Sandler movie.

 BIG DADDY

The twins who played Julian are now 21! Yes, that's how old you are. Sandler took an unusual situation of new found fatherhood to a child that isn't his, kept his recurrring buddies like Leslie Mann, Rob Schneider and Steve Buscemi and made an incredibly memorable film filled with both laughter and countless aww moments.

BILLY MADISON
The dumb Billy Madison hasn't accomplished anything in life but is still living it up thans to his father's wealth. However, things have to change when it's decided that Billy has to go back to school to prove he's worth his dad's empire. Very few things can make Norm McDonald seem funny but Billy Madison is without a doubt the best Sandler movie out there.

                                                              The Endless Pit

50 FIRST DATES
In celebration of their third collaboration Drew Barrymores shows us how a bad movie doesn't make a bad career. There's not much to say about 50 FIRST DATES except that it's painful to watch, and will never be rewatched.

THAT'S MY BOY

This is the movie which makes us all think that making movies must be so easy. You just write up the dumbest story line, make sure the characters are equally annoying but differ in all other ways, have the studio cough up some money and then wait for no one to want to see the movie.

JACK AND JILL

So there's a guy, and his sister is coming to visit. But here's the kicker, they're both played by Adam Sandler! No...this should have stopped half way down the first page of the script. However, Al Pacino is in it, so there's that.

Sadly there are more movies belonging in the endless pit than movies we like. Sandler is still making movies, and there must be a reason for that. Are we just missing the magic? Let us know if you're a Neo-Sandler fan.

Check out the trailer for BLENDED the new flick featuring Sandler and Barrymore hating each other.
